A lot of oils from plant extracts are in the market these days. There are olive oil, virgin coconut oil and aloe vera extracts. But, a month ago during my visit to a skin care clinic, i was introduced to a special oil exclusively imported from Morocco. This is what is known as Liquid Gold, the Argan Oil. It is extracted from Argan trees which only grows in Morocco, which is why it is a bit pricey. It has been used for food preparation, but recently has gained worldwide attention due to its beauty miracles.
After a month of using this oil, people would comment about the glow on my face and how younger-looking I am. I also get a lot of compliments on my shiny, healthy hair.
Here are the uses of Argan oil:
1. Face Moisturizer
I was advised to substitute it for my moisturizer. After cleansing the face in morning and night, put a drop or two of argan oil onto your fingers and massage gently face and neck. It absorbs quickly and is never greasy. I use it as a make-up base.
2. Rejuvenating & brightening face mask
I make my own mask by mixing 1 tablespoon of lemon or kalamansi juice, 1 egg white, and 3 drops of argan oil in a bowl. Apply it on a clean, dry face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. Do this twice a week and say bye-bye to fine lines and wrinkles.
3. Face and Lip Scrub
To get rid of white and blackheads, add a few drops of argan oil to fine brown sugar. Lightly massage into face using circular motion and rinse off with warm water. Do this twice a week as well.
4. Leave-on conditioner
After shower, while your hair is still damp, add a few drops of argan oil to your hair and scalp. This will help to hydrate and moisturize the hair, and reverse the damages caused by hair-drying and curling irons.
5. Overnight Hair Treatment
Massage a generous amount of argan oil into your hair, ends and scalp. Wrap your hair with a towel or showercap and leave it on while you sleep. In the morning, wash your hair with your favorite shampoo and you’ll feel that amazing glow.
These are the five major uses of argan oil in my life. But you can, basically, also use it to moisturize and smoothen any part of your body.
Enjoy!
